USB port types and names
USB (Universal Serial Bus) is an industry standard for connecting computers and other devices. It's available with many types of ports, and each type has a unique shape. On Mac, USB is available with these ports, depending on your Mac model:
USB-A
Type USB-A ports are commonly called USB, USB 2, or USB 3 ports, depending on the USB specification they support. They aren't reversible, so a USB-A connector plugs into the port only when oriented correctly.
Make sure connection to the USB port is secure. Unplug the affected device from the USB port. There are many options you can choose between, such as hard drive, USB flash drive and many others. Usually, when you plug the external device into your Mac, it appears as an icon on the desktop or can be found on the sidebar in Finder. However, sometimes you can't find external drive on Mac, and there are several reasons for that. Double click the icon. You can also Click 'Finder' to open the Finder window and choose the USB icon under Devices. The contents of the memory stick will display in a separate window.
USB-C
Type USB-C ports are available on Mac as standard USB-C ports, Thunderbolt 3 ports, and Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports. They all look the same, and the connector plugs into the port in either orientation.

USB specifications
USB specifications are important primarily when you want the most speed and power for your USB device, or your device needs more power or is using too much power. To learn which specification is supported by a type USB-A or type USB-C port on your Mac model:
- Choose Apple menu > About This Mac, click Support, then click Specifications.
- Check the System Information app for more details, including about USB devices connected to USB ports on your Mac. Select USB in the sidebar, then select a USB bus on the right.
Get the best performance from your USB devices
USB specifications all work with each other, but speed and power are limited by the cable or device that uses the earliest specification. For example, if you connect a USB 3 device to USB 2 port, your device is limited to USB 2 speeds, and it can't draw more power from the port than can be delivered over USB 2. In other words, to get the best performance, make sure that the USB port on your Mac and the USB cable to your device meet or exceed the USB specification of the device itself.
If your Mac doesn't recognize a USB device after you plug it into your Mac:
- Check all connections: Unplug the device from your Mac, then plug it back in, and make sure that all cables and adapters are securely connected at both ends. Test with another cable or adapter, if available.
- Plug the device directly into your Mac instead of a USB hub or other device, and if necessary test with a different USB port on your Mac or device.
- Some devices need their own software, such as drivers or firmware. Others work without additional software. Check with the maker of your device, and install all available Apple software updates as well.
- If your device came with an AC power adapter, use it. Some devices can be powered by the USB port on your Mac. Others need more power than your Mac can provide.
- Restart your Mac.

Find My User Guide
In Find My, you can see the location of a missing device, and play a sound on it to help you find it.
Important: To be able to locate a missing device, you must add it in Find My before it's lost.
See the location of a device
In the Find My app on your Mac, click Devices.
In the Devices list, select the device you want to locate.
If the device can be located: It appears on the map so you can see where it is.
If the device can't be located: Below the device's name, 'No location found' appears. If you want to be notified when the location is available, click the Info button on the map, then select Notify When Found. You receive a notification once it's located.
Play a sound on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or Apple Watch
In the Find My app on your Mac, click Devices.
In the Devices list, select the device you want to play a sound on, then click the Info button on the map.
Click Play Sound.
Note: You can also Control-click the device in the Devices list, then choose Play Sound.
If the device is online: A sound starts after a short delay and gradually increases in volume, then plays for about two minutes. The device may vibrate. A Find My [device] alert also appears on the device's screen.
A confirmation email is also sent to your Apple ID email address.
If the device is offline: The sound plays the next time the device connects to a Wi-Fi or cellular network.

Play a sound on your AirPods
In the Find My app on your Mac, click Devices.
In the Devices list, select your AirPods, then click the Info button on the map.
Click Play Sound. Game dev tycoon 1 6 11. If your AirPods are separated, you can click Left or Right to find them one at a time.
If your AirPods are online: They play a sound immediately (for two minutes).
A confirmation email is also sent to your Apple ID email address.
If your AirPods are offline: You receive a notification on your devices the next time your AirPods are in range of one of your devices and the Find My app is open.

Stop playing a sound on a device
If you find your device and want to turn off the sound before it stops automatically, do one of the following:
Mac: Click OK in the Find My Mac alert.
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Press the power button or a volume button, or flip the Ring/Silent switch. If the device is locked, you can also unlock it, or swipe to dismiss the Find My [device] alert. If the device is unlocked, you can also tap OK in the Find My [device] alert.
Apple Watch: Tap Dismiss in the Find My Watch alert, or press the Digital Crown or side button.
AirPods: Convert fbr to mp4 mac. Put your AirPods in their case and close the lid, or tap Stop in Find My.
How To Find A Usb Connected Device On Mac
Get directions to a device
In the Find My app on your Mac, click Devices.
In the Devices list, select the device you want to get directions to, then click the Info button on the map. Best game to play in the casino.
Click Directions.
Note: You can also Control-click the device in the Devices list, then choose Directions.

Tip: You can help a friend find their devices by opening iCloud.com so they can sign in to their iCloud account on your Mac. In the People list, select yourself, then click the Info button on the map. At the bottom, click 'Help a friend,' click 'Use a different Apple ID,' then let your friend sign in.
